MOVE. CREATE. CONNECT. The Mississippi Dance Festival is a 3-day festival for 7-12th grade dancers and their dance educators. Mississippi, the Gulf Coast, and surrounding areas are full of great dance programs—in schools, in studios, in afterschool programs, and more. MDF brings together dancers from all of these, to take classes, see performances, and celebrate the art form we all love… DANCE.

Join us for:

  • A NEW Pre-professional Intensivefor high school students
  • Classes from professional dancers in the Gulf Coast region and classes from world-renowned guest artists

  • Performances by local dancers

  • Showings ofstudent and faculty choreography

  • Discussions about dance in our world today

  • Improv jams

  • And much, much more!

For dance educators, MDF offers classes in topics relevant to and appropriate for both K-12 teaching settings and studio teachers/owners. Educators can opt to receive Continuing Education Units by participating in MDF. We are proud to be the first organization offering CEUs in Dance in the state of Mississippi, showing our commitment to supporting the work of current dance educators and to furthering excellence in our field. MDF is hosted annually by the USM Dance Department, on the beautiful Hattiesburg campus of The University of Southern Mississippi.
